BMW 336 Cam Information

The 336 cam was originally designed for sidecar racing with the 750 cc R75/5 motor.  It is also applicable to later, larger airhead motors.

Provided as is, no warranty as to accuracy or usefulness.

Thanks to David Makin for posting, on the /5 list, the scanned German document from which the linked information is extracted and translated.

Thanks to Avery Frail who passed the document on to David.  Avery doesn't remember its exact source and remembers having received it years ago.

Thanks to David Paulus of the Airhead list for taking my VERY rough translation of the German document (OCR and mechanical translation) and cleaning it up then writing it out to an Adobe Acrobat file for us.

I hope this proves useful to the BMW Airhead community.  I run the 336 cam in one of my airheads and would have found value in this information, having had to learn most of it by trial and error.

Here's the information, in English.

Let me know if you have feedback or experience to share which others would find useful regarding this cam.  I am a frequent reader of the Airhead list, the /5 list, and the Boxerworks general discussion board.

Cheers, John
